Crafted from recycled cotton paper, the baskets have a smooth yet organic texture with enough structure to hold lightweight to medium-weight items. Hand screen–printed motifs add visual richness and artisanal character, making these baskets as meaningful as the gifts they hold.

Produced by rural and low-income artisans in Northern India, each set reflects Fair Trade values and the thoughtful reuse of textile waste — offering packaging that is functional, reusable, and beautifully made.

The paper used for these hamper baskets is created from cotton hosiery waste — discarded fabric scraps from cotton garment production that are reclaimed and transformed into durable, tree-free paper. Artisans blend the cotton scraps with water to form pulp, which is hand-formed into sheets using wire mesh screens. The sheets are pressed, dried, and finished without chlorine bleaching.

Once prepared, the paper is hand screen-printed with decorative motifs using azo-free dyes. Skilled artisans then cut, fold, and assemble the sheets into structured baskets.

This work supports rural and low-income artisan communities in Northern India through Fair Trade practices that provide steady wages, safe working conditions, and long-term livelihood opportunities. By transforming textile waste into functional home and gifting products, artisans create packaging solutions that are both environmentally responsible and thoughtfully crafted.
