These handwoven napkins are crafted from 100% cotton and woven on manual looms to create a refined, everyday essential with artisanal depth. While appearing solid at first glance, each napkin is made using two different yarn colors in the warp and weft, resulting in subtle tonal variation and a soft, understated sheen unique to handwoven textiles.

Produced by physically challenged artisans and their families in Northeast India, each set supports meaningful, home-based employment in communities where access to mainstream jobs has often been limited due to social and economic barriers. The work offers steady income opportunities while fostering dignity, independence, and social inclusion through handloom textile production.

These napkins are woven by physically challenged artisans and their families in India through a Fair Trade–aligned initiative focused on creating inclusive, sustainable livelihood opportunities. Many artisans are trained upon joining the program, allowing weaving work to be adapted to individual abilities while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.

Using hand-operated looms — one of the oldest methods of textile production — artisans interlace cotton yarns with precision and care. Once a thread is woven, it cannot be undone, making each napkin a testament to skill, focus, and experience. Low-impact dyes are used selectively, and the weaving process itself requires no electricity, keeping production environmentally responsible.

Through this work, artisans gain steady income, skills training, and greater economic independence, while families benefit from long-term employment and social inclusion through craft.
