This hand block printed kitchen towel blends beauty, function, and purpose. Made from 100% Kora cotton—raw, unprocessed, and naturally off-white—it offers excellent absorbency and everyday durability. Whether drying hands, wiping dishes, cleaning countertops, or wrapping baked goods, it performs like a classic dish towel while serving as a reusable alternative to disposable paper towels. Created by a displaced community of forest dwellers from Western India—families who lost their homes and traditional livelihoods when a national park was established—this work provides fair income, safe working conditions, and a pathway to rebuilding stability and dignity.

Each towel is crafted using a traditional single-color hand block printing process. Artisans carve motifs into wooden blocks, apply dye evenly, and hand-stamp each impression onto unbleached Kora cotton. Consistent pressure and careful dye application ensure clear, vibrant patterns formed through dozens of thoughtful stamps.

This displaced community learned block printing as a way to rebuild their lives after losing access to their ancestral forest lands. Through this craft, they have created new livelihoods and a renewed sense of stability—turning each towel into a meaningful expression of resilience and craftsmanship.
