These cruelty-free silk throws are handcrafted by indigenous women weavers in Eastern India using Ahimsa (non-violent) silk, one of the most humane silk-making practices. Cocoons are collected only after silkworms naturally metamorphose into moths and vacate them, ensuring no harm in the process.

The silk fibers—shorter due to the natural cocoon opening—are handspun on traditional spinning wheels, resulting in yarn with gentle texture and occasional nubs that reflect its authenticity. The fabric is then handwoven on traditional bamboo frame looms, built from locally sourced materials and operated without electricity.

Each piece is finished with hand-braided fringe and dyed using traditional botanical dye processes, including indigo, turmeric, and harda—a plant-based dye also known as a culinary spice—creating soft tonal variation and depth unique to each throw.
