This kitchen towel is made from organic cotton yarns that have been hand-dyed using the Ikat technique, a textile patterning tie-dye process that involves resist-dyeing the yarns prior to hand weaving the fabric. This involves blocking certain areas of a textile from receiving dye which creates for lighter and darker colors to be achieved in the same dyeing process. The Ikat-dyed threads are then used to weave patterned fabric.
It offers style and substance while serving a variety of practical purposes, from wiping hands to drying crystal. Our eco-friendly towel is a great alternative to disposable paper towels; makes a unique gift and party favor.
Packaged with a belly band and a hanger, it makes an excellent host or hostess gift.
A Fair Trade product. Handmade by artisans in India.
This textile is produced on hand-operated looms, one of the oldest methods of textile production. The weaving involves interlinking a set of vertical threads (warp) with a set of horizontal threads (weft.) meticulous planning and a complex estimation, depending on the design.
Handwoven at a small weaving unit in Northern India by adult members of a community of physically challenged artisans, and their families. The work offers them employment, life skills training and an avenue for social acceptance.
