How It’s Made

First, the yarn is handspun. A blend of handspun and conventional yarn is used. This textile is produced on hand-operated looms, one of the oldest methods of textile production. The weaving involves interlinking a set of vertical threads (warp) with a set of horizontal threads (weft,) meticulous planning and a complex estimation, depending on the design.  

Each of the steps - spinning of the yarn, dyeing with low impact Azo-free dyes and weaving the products on wooden pit looms - support local artisan livelihood.
